ORLANDO STUDIO & PRODUCTION CENTER: UPDATE
![]()
Orlando, FL - Chapman / Leonard Studios and Production Center has proved most beneficial to productions from Florida to the Midwest
Our state-of-the-art Sound Stage has remained busy from day one. Ideal for a wide range of uses from television live audience shows to commercials, corporate videos, rehearsal and music videos. Chapman / Leonard Studios and Production Center accommodated the rehearsal needs of "World Party" and EMI Records during the 93 NARM Conference. The stage has accommodated production needs of such talent as Smothers Brothers, Doc Severson, World Party, Neon Armidello, Tim Allen and Ed McManon's Star Search.
Chapman / Leonard Studios and Production Center, a branch of the half-century-old Chapman Studio Equipment in Los Angeles, California, who manufactures and distributes camera cranes and dollies, worldwide, has enjoyed its adventures in this new end of the film business. Productions seem to enjoy the benefits of having equipment conveniently located within the area they are filming, along with 24-hour accessible technical advice and service. Technical Director and General Manager, Dave Bullard, explains, "we will walk a production through our facility and describe all the equipment that our facility has to offer them and decide what equipment will best serve their needs." Along with the technical aspects, productions also enjoy the friendly and service-oriented atmosphere the facility prides itself on, enhanced by facility coordinator, Zoe Iltsopolous. "To help provide assistance to foreign, out of state, as well as local clients," Ms. Iltsopolous states, "we offer 24-hour service for needs such as hotel arrangements, limo and airline scheduling, catering service scheduling, as well as, production crews."
Recently, Chapman / Leonard Studios serviced accommodations for Skydog Productions educational video, entitled,"Make Mine Milk." The facility provided comfortable accommodations for various sets to be built and placed on the stage to recreate a milk-based question and answer game show for the 27-minute video. The question and answer segments were edited with actual dairy processing shots from a dairy in North Florida, Alachua County. "The idea behind the educational video is to teach young people about the benefits of milk and how it is processed," explains a Skydog spokesperson.
Plans for the future include the building of another stage, as well as the addition of a full-service post-production group.
Being a California-based corporation, we have felt a positive flow of work to Florida and the Orlando area due to Florida's lower production costs and tax incentives, as well as, Florida's convenient southeast location (even for European productions) and comfortable climate and geography. Another important factor for Florida's commercial production growth is the influx of industry and tourism to South and Central Florida.
