BLAST FROM THE PAST

Can you guess the year of this Chapman crane?   It was Cecil B. DeMilles' choice for the movie epic, "The Greatest Show on Earth".  If your answer was 1948, you were correct.  Pictured above is one of Chapman's first cranes.  The Large Stage Crane No. 2 (as it was called then) had a 40' arm and was completely electric powered.  Today's cranes; Titan, Super Nova and Apollo are the evolutionary results of this crane from the past!
