Chapman Flies with Vampire in Brooklyn
Hollywood, CA--At the back lot of Paramount Studios on New York Street, Key Grip, Charles Smallwood, and colleagues prepare for a scene in Vampire in Brooklyn, a film starring Eddie Murphy under the direction of DP, Mark Erwin. The scene opens viewing the vampire (Murphy) from atop a 4-story building, then switches to the vampire's point of view as he swoops down to an unsuspecting victim on the street below. This complicated, rather fast move, was obtained using the Chapman Titan Crane platform setup, Lenny Arm, and Power Pod Remote Camera System. A grip, operating the Lenny Arm, stood on the platform, while another grip manned the Titan Arm. "The move was very fast and had to stop with precision and smoothness," Smallwood said. "We did the shot and it turned out really great!" Look for this scene when you see Paramount Pictures' Vampire in Brooklyn, opening this October.

Chapman's Pee Wee®: Perfect for NYPD Blue
Hollywood, CA--The Super Pee Wee® III, with its time saving features, the Universal Stop Valve, Universal Mount and wide selection of tires, is becoming extremely popular and in demand around Hollywood these days. Brian Reynolds, a cameraman for ABC's hit TV show, NYPD Blue, told the Hollywood Reporter that the PeeWee's® size and maneuverability are its biggest assets. "The PeeWee® Dolly is a perfect match for the small, tight sets of NYPD Blue," Reynolds said. "We can crunch into the corner without taking out a wall and it's a big plus that you don't have to change the wheels when you use track. Chapman equipment is well thought out and time saving. It's designed so that you can throw the camera on and go."
