New Cable Hoists and Cyc Lights for Orlando Stage

Orlando, FL--The Chapman/Leonard Studio and Production Center is happy to announce the installation of 12 "self climber" motorized cable hoists and 3 cyc hoists, along with 10 cyc lights and dimmer board. Bill Liento, President of Desisti Lighting, explains, "This system of motorized hoists allows the production to quickly and efficiently change gels to paint the cyc.  With these "self climbers", the crew does not have to climb up with the aid of a man lift to change the gels. The lights are dropped down electronically from the grid. The cyc hoists, along with the 10 cyc lights and dimmer board, enables production to paint the cyc electronically. Each light has a color gel of either white, red, yellow, or blue.  These are 3 necessary primary colors to paint the cyc many different colors electronically. These lights are incandescent which allows you to use any color gel with these lights."

Maintenance Field Tips

By Frank Requena, Chapman Technician

If a dolly operator finds it difficult to switch from crab to conventional steering mode, he should check to see that the shifting rod knob (located on the top of the steering column) is screwed all the way in and directly parallel to the chassis.
When wheeling dollies on track, remember to release all four tab locks, then lift and turn two of the four leg locking pins ninety degrees to prevent the pins from sliding back down into the bushing. Make sure the two pins selected are diagonal from each other. Never pull two pins on the same side of the dolly.
