Fox Sports Gears Up with Chapman Equipment for 1997 Bull Riders Only World Championships

Las Vegas, NV--Fox Sports aired the series of Bull Riders Only World Championships on April 5.  The three day event took place from April 3rd to the 5th.  The event started with an original 35 bull riders and ended with the 12 finalists competing for the big prize on April 5th. Jerry Gepner, Technical Producer of the event, explained that, "this was the first time the Bull Riders Event was aired live.  We liked the Lenny Arm moves because it brought a new dimension of coverage to a sport that has traditionally incorporated fixed camera positions."  The Bull Rider World Championships took place at the Thomas and Mack Stadium on the UNLV campus. The inside arena was set up with several tons of dirt brought in to cover the arena floor. The bull riding arena itself was fenced off with 5 rail bars...the Chapman ATB with the Lenny Plus was utilized in the 20' manned configuration to capture all the action.   The Chapman Lenny Arm and ATB was placed at the opposite end of the arena and flew a Sony Studio camera and man. The equipment and crew, Camera Operator, Bob Berkowitz, Crane Operator, Guy Manweiler, and Chuck Huenergardt did a tremendous job," explained Mr. Gepner.  Live Sports Producer, Mike Burks, was pleased with the results.

Titan Cranes Make Moves for Lighting Services, Inc.

Denver, CO--Lighting Services, a full service studio and production center, incorporates 3 stages, tractor trailers, generators, cube vans, lights, carpenter scenic shop and warehouse, camera car, cranes, and dollies. "We are the largest rental house between Chicago and Los Angeles," explains Manager, Tom Grazoni. " The addition of the Titan Crane has really been great," states Franzoni. "With so many movies in the recent months shooting here in Colorado, Asteroids, The Shining, Going West, Jingle All the Way, Dying to be Perfect, plus a variety of commercials, we need all the camera support equipment we can get to meet our customers needs." Mike Butler was the Titan Operator during the filming of The Shining, which which filmed on location in Estes Park at the Stanley Hotel (Overlook Hotel was its name in the movie). "We used the full extension and risers to get the crane arm to reach the top of the hotel (the hotel was 5 stories tall), Butler explains. "In Asteroids, the Titan Crane was used quite a bit amongst the rubble and aftermath. For a lot of the studio shots we used a combination of the Titan Crane with a remote crane arm to obtain a double axis move. We used the Chapman Titan to film over 50 percent of the movie. We even had it panning through fire. The Titan was able to get to all the locations we needed to go. The 6 wheel drive allowed us to get shots that production thought we would never be able to achieve," says Butler. "The Titan allows us to get to other locations quickly and at less cost. We were able to get to Minnesota to film Jingle All the Way. Production was very pleased with filming results. We are trying to let people know that the Titan is stationed here in Denver to encourage them to come and film in these locations without tremendous travel and mileage costs," Butler stated. For more information regarding rental of our mobile cranes, please call (888) 883 6559--West Coast or (888) 337 8243--East Coast.
