ESPN NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Uses Titan II to Catch all the Action
Fort Worth, Texas--Titan Driver/Operator, Darryl McKenzie, operated a Titan II for ESPN's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and Indianapolis Racing League Cars that was held on June 6th and 7th at the Texas Motor Speedway. The Titan II was equipped with a TV turret setup, which Camera Operator, Don McGreggor, controlled. Darryl McKenzie operated the Titan's arm. The shoot was video taped live. The Titan Crane was stationed 10 feet from the speedway behind the crash wall on the inside of turn 4 of the Texas Motor Speedway. This was the first time a Titan Crane was used to film the live action of the mile and a half race. "We were picking up the action of the race as the cars were coming into turn three and bringing them out of turn four down the straightaway. We went from a high shot and brought the camera down to catch the driver and car at eye level as they came down the straight away. Line Producer, Neil Goldberg, was very pleased with the action captured by the Titan Crane," explained Darryl McKenzie. "The advantages of using the Titan Crane for this type of set up is that production saves time and money by not having to build a scaffolding to place tripods and cameras on to film the action. "With the Titan Crane, you just drive it into place and you're ready to go!" Darryl continued.
