The Super
PeeWeeŽ IV Camera Dolly made its debut at the National Association
of Broadcasters Convention on April 6th in Las Vegas. This latest
product from Chapman / Leonard is a breakthrough in engineering
aimed at mobility, range and ergonomics.
A
revolutionary new three mode transmission features conventional,
crab and round steering, all capable of shifting while the dolly
is moving or stationary, without the dolly operator's hands leaving
the steering handle. Additionally, shifting is possible when the
steering handle is rotated 180°. This transmission has the ability
to be adjusted (two modes are available) to provide perfect steering
geometry when reconfiguring the chassis to its various leg positions.
The
Super PeeWeeŽ IV now provides for much less maintenance. The need
for air bleeding has been eliminated: corrosion resistance has been
dramatically improved: all exposed working joints have been sealed,
which greatly reduces the need for adjustments. All adjustments,
if required by operator's specific preferences, can be done externally
without removing bolted covers or lids.
The
unit incorporates a larger hydraulic cylinder, capable of powering
5 camera lifts on a charge. In addition, a built-in heater will
regulate the hydraulic oil tank automatically to a preset temperature
(70° F), when charging up the system. Added structural ribs on the
chassis and arm provide noticeable gain in rigidity and load capacity.
Greater arm clearance enables a 15" minimum camera mount height.
That's nearly an 8" drop from earlier models and is unmatched
in the industry. Boom travel is increased by nearly 2 inches, while
a new and improved XOX Head is stronger and pivots on hydraulic
dampeners to enable safe, gentle camera changes.
